The Statue of Freedom is a classical female figure with long, flowing hair wearing a helmet with a crest composed of an eagle’s head and feathers. She wears a classical dress secured with a brooch inscribed “U.S.” Over it is draped a heavy, flowing, toga-like robe fringed with fur and decorative balls. Her right hand rests upon the hilt of a sheathed sword wrapped in a scarf; in her left hand she holds a laurel wreath of victory and the shield of the United States with 13 stripes. The helmet is encircled by nine stars. Ten bronze points tipped with platinum are attached to her headdress, shoulders and shield for protection from lightning. She stands on a cast-iron pedestal topped with a globe encircled with the motto E Pluribus Unum (Out of many, one). The lower part of the pedestal is decorated with fasces (symbols of the authority of government) and wreaths. The pedestal is 18-1/2 feet high and almost doubles the total height. The crest of Freedom’s headdress rises 288 feet above the East Front Plaza.” And now as people are rightly pulling down statues, perhaps the Washington Football Club might hold up The Statue of Freedom / A True Native American as our lodestar for the NFL. Can you imagine if the Browns weren’t named after Paul Brown?! 🙄

The Washington Football Team actually is bigoted in their name referring to the skin color of a race of Americans… The First Americans! The Washington Football Team has been a mulligan stew of ignorance to outright racism. George Marshall was a pig. Daniel Snyder is a racist bigot. One of the club VPs was George Allen Jr. … Mr. Macaca himself. It cost him a US Senate seat. Snyder recently dismissed him from the team. Not over racism. He did it because the Washington Football Team Sucked on the field! Will Daniel Snyder really make the change? Well, he’ll lose $220Million from FedEx on naming rights if he doesn’t! Now let’s not name Washington… The Red Storm or something idiotic and twerpish. Respect to Native Americans might be accomplished with a new name like The Washington Americans”! Keep the dignified Native American American Chief on the helmets. It’s a prestigious symbol. It’s not the Wahoo Indian by any means. Other new names could be an actual indigenous people’s name of a tribe or Nation. “The Potomacs” or perhaps “The Algonquins”. I love it if a First American Nation would be honored.
