Revised Phils Lineup

Here me out. Protecting hitters so they see pitches is key.

1. Herrara

2. Segura

3. Harper

4. Hoskins

5. Realmuto

6. McCutchen

7. Franco

8. Pitcher

9. Hernandez

The use of the pitcher hitting in the eighth spot does three things.

1) Franco may see better pitches at bat because there is going to be a few guys on base for him all the time or they all may be on the bench after scoring and he can swing free against a rattled pitcher.

2) The Pitcher hitting eighth gives Hernandez better pitches to hit because the lead off hitter will protect him. Who wouldn’t want to hit behind Our first 5/6?!?

3) Franco at 7 protects McCutchen at 6, and with men on base, teams can’t pitch around him. At 7, the lineup seems to protect Franco!

4) Having Hernandez 9 & Herrara at 1 sets the table for our best hitters and gives Hernandez some good pitches to hit. At worst, he can get us turned over to the top of the lineup.

This lineup helps us avoid Franco, Herrara & Hernandez 6-7-8 with little hitting protection and a great deal of outs.

That’s my story and I’m sticking with it! 😉
